DFCC Celebrate and Remember – Aug. 14th

August 5, 2011

It is very important that we not step out of this chapter of Dutch Fork Christian Church without properly showing honor to God for all He has done, and also honoring the men and woman who invested their lives into DFCC. We will be hosting a special event on August 14th at the Saluda Shoals River Center. Come for lunch, hear from past staff, laugh at old pictures, and hear from the pastor who founded DFCC almost 40 years ago. It should be a very special time of celebrating and remembering.

If you know someone who would like to attend this event please forward this invitation on to them as we would like everyone who has called DFCC home over the last 40 years to feel welcome to attend.

The event will be held Sunday, August 14th at the Saluda Shoals River Center (directions below) from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.

Please bring a current photo of your family to help us remember the people who sacrificed to see God move at DFCC.

Hope to see you there.

DFCC Transition – Wk3 – August 1

August 5, 2011

An essencial part of understanding Columbia Church is understanding how we do evangelism. Talking to someone about Jesus is a scary thing. This message lays out why it is so emportant that you partner with the church to do evangelism and why it is so important that everyone engages in strategic service. Because fishing was never supposed to be a solo sport.

Dutch Fork Christian Church Transition

July 25, 2011

On June 30 2011, the elders of Dutch Fork Christian Church voted unanimously to dissolve the corporation known as “Dutch Fork Christian Church”.  With the dissolutionment of DFCC, the elders unanimously voted to transfer the assets of DFCC to Columbia Church, Inc.

Having taken the above actions, the elders of DFCC and the leadership of Columbia Church came together to plann out a transition process for the people of DFCC.  This transition plan will take 5 weeks. Over the course of those 5 weeks, JD Richards, the lead pastor of Columbia Church, will lay out the mission, vision, and strategy for Columbia Church. These gatherings take place on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM.

In each of the services during the transition plan we will hear from JD, take communion together, hear a message from Andy Stanley, and participate in a short discussion  about the content presented that day.

The dates for those gatherings are listed below.

After our 5th gathering on Sunday, August 14th, we are hosting a celebration service to honor, remember, and celebrate all God has done through Dutch Fork Christian Church. This will be the first event where the two congregations will come together as one church. We will have a catered lunch, activities for the children and enjoy a video collection of  memories as we look toward the future. If you are a current or past attender of DFCC you are invited to celebrate with us. We could also use your help. Please help us collect as many pictures, videos, and information about the history of DFCC as possible. You can email those to us as dfcc@columbiachurchonline.com.

After the celebration service we are inviting everyone to come together at the Columbia Church campus in Downtown Columbia for a night of worship and communion. The Night Of Worship will be held on August 18th at 7:00 PM. This will be a special time of worship where we focus on Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross.

The following Sunday, August 21st, we will not have Sunday morning services at DFCC. We will meet as one church at the Columbia Church downtown campus at 6:00 PM for evening services.

I am praying diligently that we will be excellent stewards of the resources of DFCC so that they can be leveraged for maximum Kingdom impact. I would ask that you please pray for me, the congregation of DFCC, and the congregation of Columbia Church as we walk boldly into the future God has for us.

Thank you,

JD

Core Worship coming in May!

April 23, 2010

Announcement for Core Worship on May 9

We are excited about the next phase of Sunday morning activities at Columbia Church, and we would like to share it with you.

Every volunteer knows the struggle of serving on a Sunday morning, and sacrificing their own involvement in a worship environment.  Starting in May, you will no longer have to choose between serving and singing.  On May 9th, we are starting Core Worship.

Core Worship is an opportunity for you to worship with us before it’s time for our guests to arrive.  At 9:15 we will take 30 minutes to sing and pray together as a family.  We believe this is a valuable time together—to get us all on the same page; to encourage us all before we endeavor, together, to create irresistible environments; and to unite us around a common purpose.

So if you are on a Strategic Service Team, join us for Core Worship after you’ve finished setting up your environments.  We believe you will be encouraged and refreshed by it, and you will be more prepared to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

30DAYS2PRAY

March 5, 2010

Starting this weekend at our Glimpse event, Columbia Church will spend the 30 days leading up to Easter in prayer for our church, the people and families involved, those they are investing in, and for the city of Columbia. This time of focused prayer is leading up to and preparing us for Easter Sunday where we will be having 2 services for the first time: April 4th at 9 and 10:30 AM. We know it is God’s provision that sustains us, but too often we fall into thinking that our talent or determination are the reasons for our success. We are working hard, but God acting on our behalf is much more substantial than any effort we can offer. We work like it depends on us and pray like it depends on God. We want to be intentional about praying for God’s favor on our church and for those in need. 30Days2Pray is a way to encourage unity in our church and inspire thousands of people outside of Columbia Church to pray. Each day we will send out a daily prayer reminder via text message, Facebook, Twitter, and email. To receive the text message prayer updates on your mobile phone text “30DAYS” to 41411. This will subscribe you to the Columbia Church 30DAYS2PRAY text message service. We will also share how to signup at Glimpse on Sunday.

Another opportunity we will have this Easter is for people to publicly declare their relationship with Jesus through baptism. We want to present this opportunity through our community groups. Starting this week as you discuss this in your group, we would like you to share your baptism story. Share why it was so meaningful to you. Share why you felt it was important for you to be baptized, then encourage anyone who may be interested to talk to you about it. We will shoot a short baptism video of each person to be baptized, so it is important that you start talking about it now, even though Easter is more than 4 weeks away. Here is a link to an excellent message from Andy Stanley on Baptism. It may be a great resource for you or anyone else interested in being baptized.  If you or someone you know is interested, please email Pastor JD Richards as soon as possible so we can make plans for the baptisms.

See you this Sunday for Glimpse!
